3V at Capilano Suspension Bridge Park

Grade 3V went to Capilano Suspension Bridge Park on October 15. We participated in the Bridge Builders program and had opportunities to learn about materials and structures. We learned about three main bridge designs: beam, arch and suspension. We loved going on the suspension bridge, Cliffwalk and Treetops Adventure. We also enjoyed learning about history and about the trees in our temperate rainforest!

Grade 3's farm visit

The grade 3 classes took the large school bus to visit Mr. DeGroot's farm. We saw and learned so much! We saw how bees made honeycombs (natural structures) to store their honey plus we got to taste the sweet, delicious honey. Mr. DeGroot also showed us the chickens, ducks, pigs and cows. The best part was watching how the apples we brought with us, were squeezed and pressed in the apple press, and how this produced fresh apple juice. Each of us had a glass of our own fresh apple juice. It was very yummy! We learned that some of our food comes from these animals as well as from fruit trees and vegetable gardens. Most importantly, we saw how important it is to take care of God's creation through careful, sustainable farming

Wildlife dress-up day

Wildlife dress-up day was a blast. Students excitedly entered the classroom to see which kinds of "animals" came to school that day. Some were dressed up as cats and leopards and others came as frogs and giraffes. It didn't matter which kind of animal we dressed up as, we all had so much fun!
